Site helps immigrants cope
Immigration laws affecting how non-citizens can work, visit
and live in the United States tend to vary and change frequently.
So Steven Riznyk, an immigration attorney, has dropped out
of his practice to launch a Web site, http://www.ClearedForLanding.com,
to help immigrants cope. The site is being marketed as one
that can offer comprehensive answers to complex questions
- including those guiding H1-B visas, plus laws guiding
citizen relatives, students and investors. The site also
includes information pertaining to updates on the green-card
lottery and citizenship, according to a press release.
According
to Riznyk, the need for such a site was pressing. Figures
from the Immigration and Naturalization Service indicate
that 369 million non-citizens visited the US in 1999 and
about 800,000 new visas and green cards get issued every
year.
Last year, a press release indicates, 8 million
people applied to enter the green card lottery and there
were some 25 million non-citizens living in the United States.
Among other services, the site provides free immigration
forms, updated information on law changes and daily news
stories from 36 countries. http://www.ClearedForLanding.com.
