It's time to get organized Another month rolls on by. This
year has been unbelievable; it feels like just yesterday
I was in my room, skipping class, watching the disaster
in New York. It's March already! March is a great month,
don't you think? I mean it's the start of a new beginning,
I mean spring, there's St. Patty's day, and it's my birthday!
Not just any birthday, the birthday of all birthdays for
college kids. I will be the glorious 21. I take pride in
saying those words, 21... it's like when you are old and
you say I am the CEO of so and so. Turning 21 at school
brings a lot of responsibilities to the table, I won't elaborate
but I'm sure you, as so many others, have experienced the
identical journeys into adulthood.
So
from there I started my birthday list. I'll give you the
short version. I have decided in this crazy techno-world
that it is time to get organized. I'll be moving on to the
"real world" soon and will need to be equipped with the
best weapons on the market. In my experience of shopping,
which I am very good at,
I am starting to go crazy. Who has the best hand-helds out
there? Which PDA has it all? I started with my sis, she
has a Palm and has been raving about it ever since. At Christmas
time she opened a sweet toy, the Palm V11x. What she likes
about it is the obvious, it's a Palm and their software,
in my opinion, rocks. Now being able to research and experience
the Palm, I have opened my eyes to so many possibilties.
Seriously, though, the wireless is a great asset. They have
so much software downloadable to your Palm it's unreal.
You can get rid of that graffiti and write wherever you
want. They make just about any game you like; check out
Astraware.com for those. For my sis and so many office gurus,
Quickoffice is great new hardware. You have the ability
to pick up your office material anywhere. The Palm will
sync with your PC or Apple (with the right connectors).
One downer is no color, the other is the speed. It's very
frustrating but I hear rumors that that's about to change.
Now, these are just wireless and have no phone .That has
become the next step in wireless innovation. With Palm,
Sony, Bluetooth, and Handspring making it virtually possible
to have it all in the palm of you hand, this is where my
head begins to spin.
There is always the question today, do I wait and see with
what they come up with next or do I buy what's out there
now? Samsung's wireless SPH-1300 has integrated its digital
Smartphone and Palm OS into an unbeatable device. That could
be why they are priced around $500; nobody's competing with
them quite yet. What more can you ask for though, e-mail,
phone, Web, and your organized Palm in one package. I think
this baby will look good on me.
The gadgets they have come up with to accompany our little
friends are truly a marvel. Batteries were one of my sis's
gripes as well, but now they have found a solution.
It looks as though Handera Power Options has developed a
rechargeable kit. Instead of the changing and remembering
the batteries, you can charge your PDA anywhere and it then
can keep on going, and going, and going, and going. It looks
like it would be a bit more bulkier but definitely a smart
move. Those of you trading business cards might want to
invest in a card copier or card reader. Instead of writing
in every file and card info, you can copy about anything
you want. The only downfalls are the prices and the juice
they use.
So I will continue the exploration of the best way to get
myself together and organized. To be honest, I have just
started my list and have quite a long way to go yet. But
if you want a full detailed list let me know and I will
have no trouble sending it out. Also, if you want to send
me an e-card I am a personal fan of beatgreets.com. I'm
sure you could find something on there that suits me well.
Hopefully, I brought some help to you in that same time
of re-thinking my options. Happy Birthday to me and St.
Patty's to all you.
