The
first issue of Dot Com Magazine, Northeast Wisconsin's Internet
Monthly, officially hit the street and went live on the
Web on February 29th. We have since received numerous e-mails
and phone calls with input from our readers.
Some
people praised the Internet 101 section and how it helps
them to learn about computers and the Internet on their
own terms and at their own pace. Others voiced their interest
in learning more about the technology-based businesses that
are shaping the future of Northeast Wisconsin. Local business
owners applauded the fact that there is finally a publication
that addresses the Internet and how it is affecting the
local market. We also received plenty of suggestions for
improving the magazine as well as a healthy dose of constructive
criticism. We welcome all of it.
We
look at this as a partnership. After all, the Internet is
all about partnerships. We've noticed that many local technology
companies have adopted this philosophy: Focus on what you
do best and partner for the rest. With this in mind, we
encourage local businesses to contribute their expertise
and knowledge to this publication. With so many specialized
fields in the new Internet Economy, everyone has a unique
story to tell.
In
this month's issue, we are proud to announce some new features.
The Dot Com Directory lists area businesses and their web
site addresses by category. The Gamer's Corner will review
the latest and greatest in computer games. Hardware Made
Easy will explain in simple terms the different parts of
your computer and how they function. This month's issue
explains memory. The Cyperpunk column will focus on the
latest buzz from the true computer generation - the kids.
Geek Speak will explain computer and Internet terms with
definitions that will have you talking like a certified
nerd in no time. And as always, we will serve up a healthy
dose of local stories from, for and about the Internet Community
of Northeast Wisconsin.
