Charge against Lambries now attempted murder

His wife filed for divorce but later had the case dismissed

By Warren Bluhm
News-Chronicle

Brown County prosecutors have filed an amended complaint charging a Green Bay man with attempted murder for allegedly putting drugs in his wife's beverages.

David Lambries, 40, pleaded innocent Tuesday to charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and placing foreign objects in edibles. Brown County Circuit Judge Peter Naze scheduled a three- or four-day trial for Dec. 3 with a final conference three days earlier.

Lambries is accused of putting an overdose of Joanne Lambries' medication in her coffee and later admitting to her that he was trying to kill her.

According to the criminal complaint, Mrs. Lambries became ill after finding pills in the bottom of her coffee cup, and she went to a hospital emergency room with nausea and severe flu-like symptoms. She also said she found a white residue in a glass after drinking a drink that he had given her.

The Lambries have been married for 20 years, have two children, and had been arguing because Mrs. Lambries suspected her husband of having an affair, the complaint said.

She told police her husband admitted to putting the pills in her coffee and to flushing the pills down the toilet after she discovered them in the bottom of the coffee that he had given to her.

Mrs. Lambries told police he said if she told authorities about the pill in her coffee she should make arrangements with a funeral home, the complaint said.

On May 3 she wore a concealed tape recorder provided by police. The partial transcript of the conversation in the complaint quotes David Lambries as saying, "I just want it to be over, to be done with. Period. That's it. Cut back. Be done with it."

Lambries was originally charges with first-degree recklessly endangering safety. The amended complaint was filed Monday.

Joanne Lambries filed for divorce on April 25, a few days after the alleged incident, but the case was dismissed at her request a month later. She recanted her story, but prosecutors said they believe she was being pressured to drop the charges against her husband.
