The villages of Allouez and Ashwaubenon will hold public hearings on their proposed 2002 budgets tonight at each Village Boardıs meeting. Following the public comment portion of the meetings, each board is expected to pass their budgets.
Ashwaubenon is proposing a total property tax levy of $7.09 million, a $309,981 (4.57 percent) increase from 2001. The tax rate per $1,000 of assessed property value would be $5.848, a 4.53 percent increase from last yearıs $5.594. That means an owner of a $100,000 home would pay $585 in property taxes for village purposes, about $25 more than last year.
Of the $7.09 million levy, $5.57 million would go to the village general fund, which is a 21 percent increase from the previous yearıs $4.58 million. But the capital projects fund would decrease 78 percent, from $387,870 to $83,523; and the debt service fund would decrease from $1.817 million to $1.441 million, or 21 percent.
The proposed Allouez budget was not complete as of Monday night because several road constructions projects are under discussion at a board meeting this morning. After that meeting, the village will finalize its proposal for tonightıs hearing and meeting. A budget summary should be available at Village Hall, 1649 S. Webster Ave., after 1 p.m. today.
