KEWAUNEE - A Luxemburg man convicted of growing marijuana has received 4 1/2 years of probation.
Todd Zellner, 23, has been ordered to serve nine months in jail with work-release privileges and to pay $500 plus court costs. Zellner's driver's license was suspended for six months and he must enroll in a mental health treatment program during probation. He is not allowed to possess a firearm as a convicted felon.
In imposing his sentence, Kewaunee County Circuit Court Judge Dennis Mleziva noted that there was no evidence that Zellner was selling the marijuana to others or had harvested and used the plants, but he indicated that Zellner could expect to be sent to prison if he violates the terms of his probation.
A New Franken teen allegedly involved in a Feb. 5 bomb scare to Luxemburg-Casco High School has pleaded not guilty.
Laura M. Deprez, 17, is accused of being party to the bomb threat and also faces charges of carrying a dangerous weapon on school property and obstructing an officer. Deprez, who is free on a $5,000 bond, is scheduled back in court Thursday for a pretrial conference.
A Green Bay teen allegedly involved in the incident, Matthew J. Greene, 19, has been charged with a felony count of committing a bomb scare. Greene is also due back in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing.
Unlike his two co-defendants, a Denmark teen accused in the break-in of a town of Luxemburg tavern last August is not being sent to prison.
Eugene P. Daoust, 19, was sentenced Wednesday in Kewaunee County Circuit Court to seven years of probation on a felony count of burglary. Mleziva said Daoust's lack of prior criminal record tipped the scale in favor of him receiving probation - along with the probability he would not have been involved with the burglary had it not been for his association with co-defendants David F. Pleau, 32, and Cory J. Hendricks, 17.
Charges are still pending against Daoust in Shawano County, where he was also allegedly involved with Pleau and Hendricks in a series of burglaries last August.
A Kewaunee teen-ager accused of a series of business burglaries late last year and early this year has been bound over for trial.
Robert Cody Allshouse, 17, appeared in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing. He has been charged with a combination of 40 felony and misdemeanor counts involving burglaries in Kewaunee, West Kewaunee, Luxemburg and Casco.
Mleziva set Allshouse's arraignment date for April 11.
