ASHWAUBENON - The village Community Development Authority on Friday approved nearly $165,000 in additional improvements to the almost-finished Resch Center.
The authority released $74,873 for rubber stair tread and risers and $89,950 for epoxy floor coverings at the new Brown County arena, which is scheduled to open in August.
"These additions will show those who come to the Resch Center that we (the Community Development Authority) put as much into it as possible to make it the best it could be," authority member Phil Pionek said.
The rubber stair tread and risers are expected to last about 25 years. The committee unanimously approved them for safety reasons.
All committee members except Dennis Johnson approved the epoxy floors, which replace concrete flooring.
The proposal generated a lot of discussion because the main purpose of the epoxy floors is aesthetic. According to authority member Elaine Pasqualucci, epoxy creates "a more finished look."
Delivery of the floor coverings is expected to be 8 to 10 weeks, which means installation wouldn't begin until late July or early August.
The epoxy floors were excluded from the original plans because of cost.
