The latest episodes out of the Far-Left Zone

Bill LuMaye
News-Chronicle

Remember "The Twilight Zone"? Remember the theme music? Good! Now, using your best Rod Serling voice, read the next paragraph.

You're about to enter a zone that bears no resemblance to reality; where accountability and personal responsibly do not exist. Common sense and logic have been eliminated, victims of a socialist society's passionate desire for an ideological lifestyle that cannot successfully sustain itself. Prepare yourself; for you are about to enter the "far left zone."

Yes, it's time to explore recent events involving the far left.

Example: The Media Research Center reports that ABC bleeped a word out of Joy Behar's statement about ending her diet. She said, "Yes, and thank you, thank you Jesus, is all I have to say! Goodbye to that damn scale and this whole diet. I'm sick of it!" Can you guess which word was bleeped?

The famous battle cry "Remember the Alamo" may soon disappear into the political correctness void. Today's multicultural Texans are trying to rewrite history, because some fear rampant pride will alienate the growing Mexican population. "We don't want our Hispanic kids, or any kids, to feel like we're teaching a biased approach," said Angela Miller, social studies curriculum manger for the Houston Independent School District. That's right, Angela, better to change history than to sow seeds of knowledge.

The "quality of life" lawyers have targeted yet another evil that must be righted. Having won the battle against the tobacco industry, Scott "Super Lawyer" Harshbarger, the former attorney general of Massachuettsistan, will once again don his litigation cape and save us from ourselves. Its seems compulsive gambling is reaching epidemic proportions and something must be done to stop casinos from injuring the many addicts who look to them to feed their $450 billion habit.

"There's a huge cost to communities, there's a huge cost to individuals, particularly to families of compulsive gamblers," said Harshbarger, president of Common Cause, a citizens group that promotes government accountability. Too bad they don't promote personal accountability, but then, that doesn't come with huge class-action settlement payouts, does it?

Closer to home, a group of left-wing radicals, who have been screaming the "R" word of late, have been busy arranging group bus fares for their activist friends. The Brown County Executive Committee meeting is not far away, and there is a lot to do before the big event - signs to paint, speeches to write and of course, you can never get enough heckling practice. Watch this well-rehearsed show June 10 at a library near you.

Yes, the sci-fi television show was scary, bizarre and completely removed from reality, as it should be, because it was fiction. Today this show would have trouble competing with the real-life antics of the far left. As they say, you can't make this stuff up.

How does one explain bleeping out Jesus and not profanity, how can one justify the rewriting of history or the absolution of personal responsibility, and how does one see racism where there is none?

Honestly, I don't even think good old Rod Serling can explain that one.
