A 27-year-old woman is in custody after she allegedly stabbed her live-in boyfriend.
At approximately 9:10 p.m. Wednesday evening, Green Bay police responded to a call at 1427 Shawano Ave., apartment 3. The man, 39-year-old Ronald Duschaine, had gone to a neighbor's apartment and asked for help, but when police arrived he was lying on the ground outside, said Green Bay Police Captain Allen Van Haute.
"It appeared that he had received a single stab wound to the right back area," Van Haute said. "He was conscious at that time."
Officers then went to the apartment where they met with Christina Kagabitang, who also resides there. Kagabitang's 2-year-old daughter was sleeping in the apartment at the time.
Kagabitang was taken into custody and charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and placed in the Brown County Jail. The child was placed with a relative.
The knife, reported as about 8 inches long, police believe Kagabitang used was recovered from the scene.
Duschaine was charged with felony child abuse, but convicted of disorderly conduct in relation to a domestic abuse charge in April.
He was sentenced to 18 months probation and was ordered to attend anger management and parenting classes.
Police could not say whether or not Kagabitang acted out of self-defense. "Although anything is possible," Van Haute said. "We don't think so, but there is no local criminal record on her."
Duschaine is in critical condition at St. Vincent Hospital.
