If you see some extra activity on the fringes of Austin Straubel International Airport this weekend, or some low-flying planes, don't worry. It's only a drill.
The Wisconsin Wing of the Civil Air Patrol will hold a statewide, emergency-services, practice exercise this weekend based at the airport.
The CAP is the civilian auxiliary to the U.S. Air Force, providing services including search and rescue and aerial observation in support of disaster relief and civil defense.
About 60 volunteers and as many as 13 aircraft are expected to participate, said CAP squadron public-affairs officer Jon Drayna. Training will include electronic search-and-rescue operations and disaster-relief flights.
Representatives of the Air Force and the Red Cross also will participate.
