Brown County Grant money available for crime-prevention groups For the first time ever, the Crime Prevention Foundation of Brown County will give away up to $10,000 in grants to schools and community groups dedicated to crime prevention. Founded to raise money to support crime-fighting programs in Brown County, the foundation is accepting grant applications through Aug. 22 for awards distributed in fall. The grant recipients will be announced by Sheriff Dennis Kocken in September. Foundation Chairperson Pat Murphy said the grants were made possible by an outpouring of community support. "The solid support from the community allows the Foundation to award grants earlier than anticipated," Murphy said. "Our goal is to provide $10,000 in grants this year." To be considered for a grant, interested groups must be classified as either a 501(c)(3) organization or a government agency providing services in Brown County. Individuals do not qualify for grants. For application and submission guidelines, contact Michael Frohna, Shea Consulting Services, at (920) 435-1212 or via e-mail at [email protected].
