Where in Wisconsin is Jessica Doyle?

On Tuesday, the state's first lady was in Green Bay visiting teachers and students at Franklin and Edison middle schools to show how much fun travel can be in the dairy state.

"Where in Wisconsin is Jessica Doyle?" is an online travel quiz game designed for middle-schoolers.

"It's to get them to see some of the accessible, affordable, undiscovered spots," Doyle said. "It's just a chance to learn about some really great places."

Each Friday, sixth- through eighth-graders throughout the state can go online to try to guess which Wisconsin city or town Doyle is describing through three clues she provides. Winners will get prizes connected to the correctly guessed locale, along with family passports for state historic sites.

With help from the state Department of Tourism, the site also provides trip itineraries for parents and students deciding what to do in a given city. "From the parents' point of view, this is really a way to involve (kids) in planning a vacation," Doyle said.

A former teacher and middle school learning coordinator, Doyle gave up teaching to support her husband, Jim Doyle, when he became governor. She still tries to stay involved with education in the state, especially at the middle-school level.

Ida Boyles, a sixth-grader at Franklin Middle School, said she would likely participate in Doyle's Internet game.

"I thought it was exciting," Ida said of hearing the first lady speak. "I've never met the governor's wife or the governor ever. When I usually see people on television like the president or the governor, it's kind of like exciting because you learn new stuff from them."
