The sales tax to pay for the Lambeau Field renovation has reached its 2003 goal three months ahead of schedule.
Figures released Monday by the Green Bay/Brown County Professional Football Stadium District show the half-percent sales tax has raised $14,373,315.11 for 2003 through July. (The district operates on a November-to-October year.)
This means all obligations for the third year of the tax have been fully funded, and remaining sales tax collections will be used to speed debt retirement.
"This is very encouraging," said executive director Patrick Webb, "especially in light of current overall economic conditions."
Cumulative collections through July are up 5.42 percent from last year. The district will receive $1,663,550.82 for July. Since the tax began in November 2001, $50,274,235.10 has been collected.
