A 30-year-old man wanted on a Brown County warrant was arrested Wednesday afternoon after leading police on a high-speed chase through the West Side.
Two Jefferson Neighborhood community policing officers were meeting with residents at 4:40 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up blaring music. The officers, who were on the 800 block of Kellogg Street, approached the man on their bicycles when he sped away in his two-door Pontiac car, according to Lt. Bill Bongle.
The officers called for squad cars in the area and the officers chased the man's car through side streets to Ashland Avenue and Phoebe Street, where he pulled over without incident. The man was the only occupant of the car, Bongle said.
The man was wanted on a warrant for possession of marijuana and he was arrested for knowingly fleeing an office and obstruction of justice for giving a false name, Bongle said.
No one was injured as a result of the chase.
