MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Most Wisconsin residents plan to share their Thanksgiving with family or friends, a new poll says.
And 88 percent of respondents in the latest Badger Poll said they were eating turkey this year.
The poll, sponsored by The Capital Times of Madison and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, surveyed 511 people.
It found that only two percent of those surveyed planned to spend Thursday alone.
"The typical table may be somewhat crowded," Badger Poll director G. Donald Ferree said.
The poll also found:
_Thirty-one percent of respondents said they would spend Thanksgiving with a group of six to 10 people, while 23 percent said their holiday gathering would include about 11 to 15 people.
_Fifteen percent said there would be 16 to 20 people there, and 12 percent said between 21 and 30 people would share their holiday meal.
_Just 9 percent said five or fewer people would be at their Thanksgiving tables.
Turkey was the meal of choice among respondents _ 65 percent said they liked turkey a lot. The rest said they liked turkey either some, only a little or not much at all.
"While there are a number of bad jokes about people eating turkey out of a sense of duty, the dish itself clearly has quite a bit of appeal to many residents," Ferree said.
