Wood fires banned at Lambeau Field

News-Chronicle

The Green Bay Packers and the Green Bay Fire Department have decided to ban wood fires in the Lambeau Field parking lot.

The fire department cited increased risk to fans and damage to pavement for the ban on wood-burning fires. In November, a fire damaged the pavement and, in a separate incident, a fire was found burning outside the Lambeau Field Atrium.

The number of tailgaters in the area around the field was also a factor in the ban, the fire department said. Fires could cause injury before the game and as 70,000 people are leaving the game.

The ban takes effect immediately and will be enforced by the Green Bay police and fire departments.
