A 71-year-old man died Friday night after he was struck by a car in the 200 block of South Military Avenue. Green Bay police said the man was standing on the railroad tracks in the northbound lane of South Military when a car driven by a 19-year-old woman struck him.
Rescue workers responded to the accident at 5:35 p.m. Friday and transported the man to St. Vincent's Hospital.
The collision closed a stretch of Military Avenue between Western Avenue and Leo Street for several hours Friday night while accident reconstructionists investigated the crash.
The name of the pedestrian will not be released until the man's relatives are notified. As of Saturday night, police had not yet disclosed the man's name. Green Bay police said there was no indication that alcohol or speed was a factor in the crash.
