Associated Bank is helping Brown County collect taxes and hand out receipts during the crunch at the end of the year, county treasurer Kerry Blaney announced Wednesday.
Residents received their tax bills last week and many try to pay them before the end of the year for tax purposes. The pilot program with Associated Bank allows residents to pay in person and receive a receipt immediately.
Associated is the county's principal bank and it was able to provide the service with the installation of special software. The bank only can accept 2003 payments.
Blaney said in a press release the option allows residents to visit a site that is convenient to them instead of downtown. Additional sites could be added if the program is successful.
The locations are 2241 Main St. on the East Side, 2550 W. Mason St. on the West Side and 206 W. Wisconsin St. in De Pere.
