A Green Bay man arrested in Algoma last summer by the Door-Kewaunee Drug Task Force has been sentenced to prison.
James D. Soun, 20, was sentenced in Kewaunee County Circuit Court to 2 1/2 years of initial incarceration in prison, followed by 3 1/2 years of extended supervision, for a conviction of possessing marijuana with intent to deliver. The sentence runs concurrent with a Door County case.
In addition to his driver's license being suspended for six months, Soun has also been ordered to pay $107 in fines and court costs, maintain absolute sobriety and use no drugs without a doctor's prescription.
Court records state Soun and two others were arrested together Aug. 26 when police officers stopped the vehicle they were in. Soun was accused of driving to a residence on Church Street in Algoma to meet with a confidential informant who had arranged to purchase a quarter pound of marijuana from him.
Officers with the Door Kewaunee Drug Task Force reported seizing more than $1,600 in cash and about 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana after stopping the vehicle.
According to court records, Soun admitted selling illegal drugs for "some time," mostly in Door County.
The task force had also announced making arrests in Door County last summer related to the trafficking of cocaine and marijuana.
