The Luxemburg-Casco Choral Department and the district's Intermediate School will be the beneficiary of donations totaling $1,000.
The L-C School Board on Monday night accepted a $500 donation from Bill Zorr, who also indicated in a letter to District Administrator Patrick Saunders that the company he works for - Alliant Energy - would match that donation to the Choral Department.
Zorr said he attended the "Fiddler on the Roof" musical at L-C High School in November and was "impressed by the quality of the performance, the costuming and back drops."
"I can imagine that there are significant costs incurred in staging a production like this," Zorr said. "And the task grows more difficult these days with cuts in state funding.
"To that end, I'd like to make a donation, ear-marked to support the Choral Department's future productions."
The $1,000 to L-C Intermediate School was recommended by Cheryl Jauquet on behalf of the Brett Jauquet Memorial Fund, which is being handled by The U.S. Charitable Gift Trust.
The grant is to be used by the Intermediate School exclusively for its charitable purposes.
The Brett Jauquet Memorial Fund was established by St. Mary's School in Luxemburg in the name of the first-grade boy killed in a December 2000 traffic accident. A gazebo in his memory was previously built next to L-C's K-2 school.
