Eight traffic accidents took place from 5-9 a.m. Tuesday, while 20 vehicles slid into ditches, according to a release from the Green Bay Police Department. Ten motorists lost control of their vehicles in a one-hour period and slid off the road along a 2-mile stretch of Interstate 43 between Greenbriar and Humboldt Roads.
According to the release, slippery roads after snow removal contributed to the motorists' loss of control, but no injuries were reported. Vehicle damage was minor.
Since midnight on Monday, the Brown County Sheriff's Department received 66 calls referring to accidents or vehicles that had slid into the ditch. The frequency of traffic accidents tapered off by 11 a.m., according to Lt. Kevin Wickman.
The department designated two specific areas where traffic accidents occurred: State 172 near I-43 and the segment of U.S. 41 between State 172 and Brown Road. No life-threatening injuries were reported.
