There’s a new face overseeing the operations of the post office in Greenleaf. Dennis Murphy took over the job of postmaster in November; he took his official oath last Thursday.
Murphy began his career with the United States Postal Service in 1984 as a rural carrier relief at the Black Creek Post Office. He became a clerk at that post office a year later and aassisted as a clerk at the Green Bay Post Office. He also served as an acting postmaster in 1988 and 1996 at the Black Creek Post Office and in 1993 at the Gillett Post Office.
Murphy lives in Appleton. As postmaster, he will oversee postal operations of three rural routes.
Denise DeBeukelar, manager of post office operations in Greenleaf, said Murphy was chosen because his qualifications best met the needs of the Greenleaf post.
“Certainly his attributes lend themselves well to this post,” she said. “He is very enthusiastic about the position and the community.
“He told me that bankers, customers, everyone in this area is great. “With his attitude, I am sure he will do very well at this post.”
