Bellevue trustee Craig Beyl and co-op employee David Kaster captured the most votes out of the candidates running for the District 16 county supervisor spot on Tuesday.
Beyl had 360 votes (33 percent), Kaster received 331 (31 percent), former supervisor Dean Reich had 260 (25 percent) and Edward Palka garnered 115 (11 percent).
Beyl is the senior store director for Cub Foods and has been a Bellevue village trustee (previously town supervisor) since 1998. Kaster formerly owned the Chatterhouse Supper Club and is now a Progressive Farmers Co-Op employee.
In a Green Bay News-Chronicle article that ran on Feb. 11, Beyl said he intends to support controlled tax rates and serve constituents as if they were customers.
"Taxpayers want to get the best for their money," he said.
In the same article, Kaster said his experience talking with a diverse group of people as a supper club owner has prepared him for a leadership role in local government. He called himself an "open-minded guy."
Beyl and Kaster acquired more votes than Reich who had previous political experience as the town of Bellevue chairman from 1988-1996 and as Brown County supervisor from 1989-1996 and 1998-2000. Palka was making his first run for office.
Mary Marquardt, the incumbent for the district, did not run for re-election.
