Several blood drives have been scheduled by the American Red Cross for March, a month when maintaining a reliable blood supply becomes especially difficult.
Red Cross officials say donations are down about 15 percent during the month becuase donors have colds and flu. This requires additional help from healthy donors.
With an average of 34,000 units of red cells needed every day nationwide, donations are critical.
