Vice President Dick Cheney is expected to make the first Republican presidential campaign visit to Green Bay of the year on Friday.
Local law enforcement officials met Monday to prepare for the visit, Brown County Sheriff Dennis Kocken said Monday, but he did not give details of the visit.
A spokeswoman for the vice president said Cheney's trips were not announced until 48 hours in advance, meaning that if the visit is planned for Friday, confirmation could come Wednesday.
Local Republicans didn't have any details either, but were excited.
"We're all gearing up for it," said Gail Chimenti of the Brown County Republican board. "We don't have anything; we've spoken with the Bush-Cheney office, but we just know there are visits, no time or dates."
Cheney is apparently scheduled for an appearance Friday in Milwaukee and may fly up for a brief visit here.
"You folks probably know as much as we do," Chimenti said.
