CHAMPS We haven't made up our minds on whether or not a parking ramp for St. Vincent Hospital is a good idea, but we do like the fact that residents in the Astor Neighborhood are taking an active role in the future of their part of Green Bay. As more neighborhoods do that, we will have a better city. Finally, we're seeing some action from the County Board - we hope - on the Brown County Arena roof. It leaks, looks ugly and really brings down the tone of the neighborhood. It seems odd that many of the people on a board that has taken too much time on the issue are also members of a Green Bay City Council that is willing to spend big to keep neighborhood properties from going bad. The do-not-call list was a good idea, and it's good that the state is out there promoting the fact that you have to reregister. But we think it might be better if the state left you on the list as long as you have the same phone number. CHUMPS We'll repeat the same joke everyone else has: Whoever is in charge of naming hurricanes blew it by naming one hurricane Bonnie and not naming the next one Clyde. We knew things were bad, but now Toys 'R'Us can't make a living selling toys? Next thing you know, we'll be told that Dairy Queen is lactose-intolerant. The reports said Whistling Straits would be a beast for golfers in the PGA Tournament, that the scores would be way over par. Based on Thursday's and Friday's opening rounds, it may be as overrated as the Packers'pass defense against Philadelphia last year. Let's see, who do we give our weekly election Chump to? Swiftboat Veterans for Truth? John Kerry for his "sensitive" war-on-terror comment? Illinois Republicans who looked over the entiire state and couldn't find one person to run for Senate, not even Mike Ditka? Pick your favorite. There will be plenty more to go around.
