Time running out to see butterflies
Just as their smaller counterparts are flying away, the 51 Butterflies on Parade on downtown city streets will be heading for someplace warmer. On Sept. 7, the butterflies fly into storage where they will receive final touch-ups by the artists before being sold at a live auction on Sept. 16 with proceeds going to The Einstein Project educational programs.
The auction, which is open to the public, will take place at the KI Convention Center Ballroom with an artist reception at 5:00 p.m. and bidding beginning at 6:00 p.m. Rachel Manek, news anchor at Fox 11's "Good Day Wisconsin," will emcee the event and the auction will once again be conducted by Col. Barb's Auction Service. Anyone wishing to bid on a butterfly who cannot be present at the live auction can use a proxy bid form available at www.butterfliesonparade.com. Butterfly No. 34, "Wings Take You There" by Virginia Janssen is not being auctioned, but instead being sold through a raffle. Raffle tickets are available at all Green Bay/DePere Festival Foods locations, The Einstein Project, and on the night of the auction.
