The PMI-operated Resch Center is undergoing a series of changes, and the village of Ashwaubenon site plan review committee approved a terrace on the building's rooftop during its meeting on Monday.
The terrace, connecting to the facility's suite level, will be accessible by two glass doorways. The committee approved the plan provided three conditions are met, namely that the terrace be smoke-free, the strength of the railings meet building code requirements and the terrace be properly equipped with a fire escape option.
Todd Gerbers, building inspector and zoning administrator for the village, estimated the terrace was 30-40 feet in the air.
The Resch Center, which opened in 2002, was built to accommodate a terrace just outside of the third-level suites which sit above 500 panes of glass that form the facility's front facade.
Village president, Norbert DeCleene, said the plans were approved by the village's Community Development Authority last month, as well as plans to make the Resch Center's floor space convertible into a theater atmosphere. Half of the floor would be a stage, and seating capacity would be halved.
