Two Green Bay schools are among 138 in the state named New Wisconsin Promise Schools of Recognition, the state Department of Public Instruction said Tuesday.
The two schools are Chappell and Sullivan elementary schools.
Schools were recognized for consistent academic progress. They will be honored in a program Oct. 18 in Madison and will receive a plaque and $1,500 for use by the school.
Schools must be eligible for Title I funding and among the highest poverty schools in the state based on free and reduced-price lunch data. Student achievement must be above state averages in both reading and mathematics and there can be no noticeable lag in achievement for subgroups of students.
Of the state schools, 85 were elementary schools, 28 middle/junior high schools, 24 high schools and one a combined school.
