The Salvation Army in Green Bay began signing up volunteer bellringers Wednesday for the 2004 holiday season.
Volunteers can sign up in two ways: on-line at www.sagreenbay.org or by calling the bellringing office at 497-7053 Ext. 134.
This year's Christmas campaign starts Nov. 12 and The Salvation Army is especially seeking volunteers from then until the end of November. Kettles often are without volunteers during the first two weeks of the campaign, but staffed kettles bring in substantially greater donations than unmanned kettles.
In addition, the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving - Nov. 26 and 27 this year - are the busiest shopping days, making it even more urgent to have bellringers at each red kettle.
The Salvation Army will have kettles at more than 50 locations in and around Green Bay. Volunteers are needed for one-or two-hour shifts from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The campaign continues through Dec. 24.
